FirstMoment
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026 · FirstMoment is published by Cortex Solution.
This policy explains how the FirstMoment app for Android (“FirstMoment” or “the app”) handles information. FirstMoment is published by Cortex Solution (“we”, “us”). It applies to the app; what this website collects is set out at the end.
The short version
- FirstMoment has no account, no servers and no ads, and we don’t collect your data.
- Everything the app records stays on your phone. We never receive it.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play.
- Sorting apps with Gemini Nano is optional. If you use it, Google’s ML Kit sends Google usage and performance information, never your app list.
What the app keeps on your phone
FirstMoment saves the following in its private storage on your phone, where other apps can’t read it:
- Your setup: home screen apps, today’s intention, focus modes and their schedules, app rules (Always open, Ask first, Timebox), hidden apps, category choices, theme and other settings, and the name of the launcher you used before, so you can switch back.
- Intent sessions: which app you opened through FirstMoment, the purpose you chose, the timebox you set, how long the app stayed open during the session, how the session ended, and your answer to the check-in.
- Session notes you choose to write. Notes are encrypted with a key held in Android Keystore.
- Gemini Nano’s category suggestions, if you use that feature.
- Your Pro status, so the app can unlock Pro quickly. Google Play remains the record of what you bought.
Apps are identified by their package name (for example com.example.app) in your rules, sessions and category choices.
What the app reads but doesn’t store
- Your installed apps. FirstMoment reads the names, icons and package names of apps that appear in your app list, plus default apps such as the dialer and camera, so it can show, launch and sort them. For web apps installed from Chrome, it also reads the web address they open, to sort them into a category.
- App usage time, only if you turn on Usage Access. Insights can then show how long you spent in each app. FirstMoment reads this from Android when you open Insights and doesn’t keep its own copy. You can turn Usage Access off in Android’s settings at any time.
What we collect
Nothing. We don’t run servers, so the information above never reaches us. We can’t see your apps, sessions, notes or insights, and we can’t recover them if you lose your phone.
The only information that leaves your phone goes to Google: what Google Play handles when you buy Pro, and, if you choose to use Gemini Nano sorting, the usage and performance information ML Kit sends. Both are described below.
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply and to help with your request, and we delete it when it’s no longer needed, at the latest 12 months after the conversation ends, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
Services from Google
Google Play
You download FirstMoment and buy FirstMoment Pro through Google Play. Google processes your Google account and payment details under the Google Privacy Policy. The app receives only a confirmation of what you bought (the product and the purchase status) so it can unlock Pro. We never receive your card or bank details.
ML Kit and Gemini Nano (optional)
In Settings › Home Screen › App categories, you can tap Check this phone to see whether Gemini Nano is available, then use it to sort the apps FirstMoment’s built-in rules weren’t sure about. FirstMoment doesn’t use ML Kit until you tap that button.
Gemini Nano runs on your phone. The app names, package names and web-app addresses it looks at are processed on the device, and Google states that ML Kit processes inputs and outputs locally. They aren’t sent to us or to Google.
ML Kit does send Google information about how it is used and how it performs: device details (such as manufacturer, model, Android version and available hardware), FirstMoment’s package name and version, the feature’s settings and version, input and output sizes, performance figures, event types and error codes, and identifiers used for diagnostics and usage analytics, including a per-installation identifier. Google uses this for diagnostics and usage analytics, sends it encrypted over HTTPS, and states that it doesn’t transfer it to third parties. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure and ML Kit terms.
Android
FirstMoment relies on Android features on your phone: the default home app setting, notifications, alarms and Usage Access. These don’t send your FirstMoment data to us.
Backups and moving to a new phone
- Cloud backup: FirstMoment opts out of Android’s cloud backup, so your data isn’t copied to your Google account.
- Phone-to-phone transfer: when you set up a new phone with Android’s transfer tool, your FirstMoment data can be copied directly to the new phone.
- Export (Pro): you can save a backup file wherever you choose. The file contains your setup, rules and sessions, including notes as readable text, so keep it somewhere safe. Restoring a file replaces the FirstMoment data on that phone.
Permissions
| Permission | Why FirstMoment asks |
|---|---|
| Default home app | To be your home screen and app list. |
| Notifications | Countdown and time-up reminders for your timeboxes. |
| Alarms & reminders | To remind you exactly when a timebox ends. Without it, reminders may arrive a few minutes late. |
| Usage access (optional) | To show time per app in Insights. |
| Request uninstall | Opens Android’s uninstall prompt when you choose Uninstall in an app’s menu. |
| Expand status bar | Lets a swipe down on the home screen open your notifications. |
| Internet | Used only by Google Play Billing and ML Kit. FirstMoment itself doesn’t connect to any server. |
| App visibility | Lets FirstMoment see apps that belong in the app list, and default apps such as the dialer and camera, so it can show and open them. |
Your choices
- See and change everything in the app’s settings.
- Delete your session history in Settings › Data & Privacy › Clear session history.
- Undo category changes in Settings › Home Screen › App categories.
- Turn off notifications, alarms or Usage Access in Android’s settings.
- Uninstall FirstMoment to delete all of its data from your phone. Export first if you want to keep it.
How long information is kept
- Information in the app stays on your phone until you delete it in the app, reset it, or uninstall FirstMoment.
- Emails you send us are kept for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, as described above.
- Information Google receives through Google Play or ML Kit is kept under Google’s own policies.
Age
FirstMoment is made for adults aged 18 and over and isn’t directed at children or teenagers. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including anyone under 18.
Security
App data stays in the app’s private storage. Session notes are encrypted with AES-GCM using a key kept in Android Keystore. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open FirstMoment, so protect your phone with a screen lock.
Your rights
Because we don’t hold your app data, you control it directly in the app. If you’ve emailed us, you can ask to see, correct or delete that correspondence by writing to the address below. These rights apply under laws including Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and, where they apply to you, the EU and UK GDPR.
Changes to this policy
If we change how FirstMoment handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and point out significant changes in the app or its release notes.

This website
The policy above is about the FirstMoment app. This website is a separate thing: like the rest of cortexbizsolution.com, these pages use Google Analytics to count visits, and the “Get notified at launch” button on the FirstMoment page asks for a name and email so we can tell you once when the app is out. Nothing on this site has any connection to the app, your sessions or your notes.
See the Cortex Solution website privacy policy for what the site collects, and the FirstMoment terms of use for the terms of the app.
