Daybook App
Terms of Use

By downloading or using Daybook, you agree to these terms. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies: Apple Standard EULA.
What Daybook is
Daybook is a tool for recording money you have spent and received. It records what you tell it.
It does not connect to your bank. It does not import your transactions, it does not verify anything you enter, and it has no way of knowing whether what you typed is correct.
What Daybook is not
Daybook is not accounting software, tax software, or financial advice, and nothing it produces is a professional opinion.
Every figure it shows — balances, budgets, projections, credit-card statement balances, converted currency amounts, split calculations and reports — is derived from what you entered and is only as accurate as that. In particular:
- Statement balances are derived from the records you have entered, not from your card issuer. They are complete only if your records are. Check them against your real statement, especially for the first month or two.
- Exchange rates are daily reference rates published by the European Central Bank. They are not the rate your card issuer charged you, and will differ.
- Projections are estimates from the rate of spending so far, not predictions.
Check anything that matters against your own bank and card statements before relying on it. We are not responsible for financial decisions made on the basis of figures the app displays.
Your records are yours, and only yours
Everything is stored on your device. Daybook has no account and no server, so nobody — including us — can read, recover or restore your records.
This is the point of the app, and it has one consequence you must understand:
If you lose your device, reset it, or delete the app without a backup, your records are gone permanently. We cannot help you recover them. There is no copy.
Export a backup and keep it somewhere safe. The app can do this from Settings, and takes automatic rolling backups on the device, but a backup that never leaves the phone will not survive losing the phone.
Daybook Pro
What you are buying
Daybook Pro unlocks the paid features on the Apple Account that buys it. It can be paid for monthly, yearly, or once outright — all three unlock exactly the same things, and there is nothing further to buy inside Pro.
Pro adds:
- more than one set of books (for example, business kept separate from personal);
- the Insights report — the longer view of your spending;
- statements as PDF or spreadsheet;
- every receipt photo kept indefinitely.
What stays free, permanently
Recording income and expenses, scanning receipts, budgets, monthly reports, comparing months, reminders, splitting bills and tracking who owes you, importing from another app, CSV export and backups are free, and will remain free.
Subscriptions
Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the price shown, charged to your Apple Account, until you cancel.
Cancel at any time in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the next renewal date. Cancelling later takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Managing and cancelling subscriptions is handled by Apple, not by us.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price then shown.
The free trial
Where a free trial is offered, its length and the price afterwards are shown before you buy.
Your Apple Account is charged when the free period ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then. A free trial is available once per Apple Account. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited if you buy the lifetime unlock during it.
The lifetime unlock
Bought once. It does not renew, there is nothing to cancel, and it can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple Account. Restore Purchase is on the paywall itself and in Settings › Daybook Pro.
If a subscription lapses
Nothing is ever deleted. Every record, receipt and figure stays on your device and remains readable and exportable in full.
Only the paid features stop: you would see one set of books at a time again, and the Insights report and statement export would be locked until you renew. Receipt photos already on the device are not deleted when Pro ends.
Refunds
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Refunds are requested through Apple, not through us, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue, approve or refuse a refund.
Acceptable use
Use Daybook for your own record-keeping. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile or resell it, beyond what the law permits regardless of this clause.
Changes to the app
Features may be added, changed or removed in later versions. Anything you have already paid for stays unlocked for as long as you hold it.
Liability
Daybook is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cortex Solution is not liable for any loss arising from use of the app, including loss of data, financial loss, or decisions made on the basis of figures the app displayed.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including your statutory consumer rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. This does not deprive you of any protection given by the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
