Privacy Policy

Daybook has no account, no server and no analytics. Your records, budgets, reminders, receipt photos and the text read off them are stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone and nowhere else.

We do not receive this information, and we have no way to obtain it. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log in to, and no copy of your data anywhere but on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

The single exception is a backup you choose to send somewhere: iCloud Drive copies, if you turn them on, or a file you save through the share sheet. Those go to your own iCloud account or wherever you send them — never to us. There is no Daybook server for them to go to.

Nothing. Daybook does not collect, transmit, store or process any personal information about you. We hold no user accounts, no email addresses and no records of any kind.

The camera is used only at the moment you start a scan. A photo from your library is read only when you pick one yourself.

The image is copied into the app's own storage so the record keeps its receipt. It stays there unless you press the button that asks an AI provider to read it — described under Reading a hard receipt below. Nothing uploads a photo on its own.

When you scan a receipt, the text is extracted on your device using Apple's built-in VisionKit and Vision text recognition, which run locally on the iPhone.

No image and no extracted text is sent to us, ever. There are two cases in which a receipt can go to a third party — one sending the photograph, one sending only text — and neither is possible until you add an API key of your own. Both are described next.

Receipt text is read on this device and stays here. What follows are the only two exceptions, and they differ in what is sent.

When you press “Read the photo with AI” on the screen after a scan, the receipt photograph itself is sent to be read, along with nothing else. It is the photo you already took; the app never takes a new one for this. It happens only on the press, only to that receipt, and never on its own.

If you also switch on the automatic second reading, then when a scan comes back unclear the words, numbers and their positions from that receipt — not the photograph — are sent without asking. That switch is off until you turn it on, and turning it off stops it. Removing your key stops both.

Where it goes. You choose the provider. With Google Gemini the request goes to Google under your key. With OpenRouter it goes to OpenRouter, which forwards it to whichever company hosts the model you picked — Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta, Z.ai and others — so that company receives the receipt too. Their terms govern what happens to it once it arrives, not ours: policies.google.com/privacy and openrouter.ai/privacy.

If you turn on the app lock, iOS performs the check. Daybook is told only whether it succeeded. It never sees, receives or stores your face, your fingerprint or your passcode.

Reminders for bills, subscriptions and credit-card payments are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. Nothing about a bill, its amount or its due date is sent off the device in order to deliver a notification.

When you tap to look up a currency conversion rate, the app requests that rate from api.frankfurter.app, which publishes European Central Bank reference rates.

The request carries the two currency codes and nothing else — no account, no amount, no device identifier, and nothing that identifies you or your spending. It happens only when you ask for it, and the rate is used only if you confirm it. You can always type a rate in by hand instead and never make the request at all.

As with any internet request, the operator of that service may see the network address it came from, in the ordinary course of running a web server. We receive nothing from it.

A CSV export, a spreadsheet, a PDF statement or a backup file is created only when you ask for one. It is then handed to the iOS share sheet and goes wherever you choose to send it — email, Files, iCloud Drive, a messaging app.

From the moment it leaves the app, that file is covered by whatever service you sent it to, not by this policy. We never see it.

Backing up to iCloud Drive is off until you turn it on. Once it is on, each automatic backup is copied into your own iCloud account, where only you can read it and Apple's terms apply. Turning it off stops new copies; the ones already there are yours to keep or delete. We receive nothing either way, and we cannot read what is in your iCloud.

Daybook does not track you across apps or websites. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party SDKs that collect data. We do not sell, rent or share anything with anyone, because we have nothing to sell, rent or share.

The statements above are about the Daybook app. This website is a separate thing, and it is only fair to say what it does: like the rest of cortexbizsolution.com, these pages use Google Analytics to count visits. That is a property of the website you are reading, not of the app — nothing on this site has any connection to the records inside Daybook, and installing the app involves no website at all.

Daybook Pro is bought through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the entire transaction. We never see your payment details, your name, your billing address or your Apple Account. The app is told only whether an active purchase exists on the device.

Daybook is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete on your behalf — and no request you could make that would produce anything.

You retain complete control of your own data at all times: export it as CSV or JSON whenever you like, back it all up to a file, or erase everything from Settings. Deleting the app removes every record from your device permanently.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
