Start a session and Ergon raises a real shield over the apps you chose, using Apple's Screen Time. A Live Activity keeps the countdown on your Lock Screen, and the shield comes down the moment the session ends — including if the app is killed mid-session.

Break a vague task into steps, or get a suggested next action. AI is off until you turn it on, and it runs on an API key you supply and pay for directly. There is no Ergon server in the middle — and everything else in the app works without it.

Your work stays on your device

Ergon has no account to create, no server of ours to sync to, and no analytics of any kind. That isn't a setting — it's how it's built.

There is no login, no profile and no password, because there is nowhere to log in to.

What is the Focus Shield, exactly?
It blocks the apps you choose for the length of a session, using Apple's Screen Time. iOS hands Ergon anonymous codes rather than app names, so the app never learns which ones you picked. It is a speed bump, not a lock — it can be switched off or worked around, and it must not be relied on for parental control or anything safety-critical.
Is the AI included?
No, and it is off until you turn it on. It runs on an API key you get from OpenAI or OpenRouter and pay for directly, and requests go straight from your device to that provider — there is no Ergon server in the middle. Everything else in the app works without it.
Where do my backups go?
To a folder you pick through the Files app — iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or the device itself. We run no backup service and receive nothing. They are written as plain JSON so they stay restorable years from now, which also means treating them like any other document containing your work.
Which devices?
iPhone and iPad, on iOS 16.1 or later. There is no Android build and no web app.
