Terms of Use

A licence to install and use Mellie on your own devices, for personal or business work, free of charge. The software remains ours; the tasks you write in it remain entirely yours.

Mellie is free today and has no in-app purchases. We may introduce paid features in a future version. If we do, anything you have already installed keeps working as it does now — but these terms do not grant a permanent free licence to features that do not exist yet.

You may not resell Mellie, present it as your own, or attempt to pull it apart to make a competing product out of it.

Mellie has no sign-up, no login and no server. That means there is nothing for us to suspend, and nothing for you to lose access to if we ever stopped publishing the app — your copy keeps running and your file stays on your machine.

Everything Mellie holds is stored on your device. There is no sync, no backup and no copy held anywhere else. This is the point of the app, and it has one consequence you need to accept before you rely on it:

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. See the Privacy Policy for exactly where the file lives.

The AI planner is off until you turn it on, and it runs on an API key you obtain and pay for yourself. Requests go from your machine straight to the provider — never through us — and are charged to your own account with them.

Mellie shows a monthly allowance counter to help you keep an eye on usage. It is a courtesy, counted inside the app only. It cannot cap what a provider bills you, and we are not responsible for what you spend. Set your own limits in your provider's dashboard if the amount matters.

Your use of that provider is governed by your agreement with them, not by these terms.

Mellie guesses which quadrant a task belongs in, when it is due, roughly how long it will take and which project it matches. Those guesses are best-effort, whether they come from the local rules or from the AI planner, and every field is editable before you accept it.

Check anything that matters. A missed deadline is not something we can be held responsible for, and Mellie is not a substitute for your own judgement about what is urgent.

So that nothing here is inferred from silence: Mellie has no cloud sync, no backup, no multi-device support, no recurring tasks, no calendar integration and no collaboration features. Mellie does not remind you about due dates and schedules nothing in the background; the only notifications it raises are from the focus timer you start yourself, one when the session ends and one when the rest does. The database is not encrypted; it relies on Windows' own file permissions.

It runs on Windows 10 version 1809 (build 10.0.17763) or later, 64-bit. There is no macOS build.

Mellie is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI or Microsoft.

Mellie is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be free of faults or that it will suit any particular purpose of yours.

To the extent the law allows, Cortex Solution is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app — including lost data, lost work or third-party API charges. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.

Mellie is distributed through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft's own terms cover your Store account and the act of downloading; these terms cover the app itself.

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top of this page moves whenever they do, and continuing to use Mellie after a change means accepting it.

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country in which you live.
